يحتفل البعض بما يُسمى بعيد الأم في يوم 21 مارس من كل عام ، وذلك بتقديم الهدايا والتهاني إليها ، وعادة ما يُعبّر عن ذلك بزهور أو شموع تقدم بين يديها ، كما تكثر في هذا اليوم الخطابات والمكالمات الهاتفية والزيارات التي تخص هذه المناسبة
فأصل هذا العيد يرجع إلى عدة أقوال نذكر بعضاً منها :
قيل : أنه يرجع إلى سبب ديني نصراني وهو أن عيسى عليه السلام له أم فقط ولا أب له ، وهذا ما يعتقده بعضهم.
وقيل : إن سببه تربوي اجتماعي لدى الغرب ، حيث أنّ عدد كبير من الأطفال لا آباء لهم معروفون ، أو لهم آباء هجروهم وأهملوهم وأمهاتهم ، أو أن علاقات الأبوة معهم كعلاقات الأجنبي للأجنبي ، ولهذا السبب أو ذاك خصص الغرب يوماً للأم عيداً لها تُكرم فيه بعد ملازمة الشعور بالإثم لهم بسبب مواقفهم منها.
وقيل : أن أماً عجوزاً أو شيخاً هرماً ماتا في منزلهما ومضت مدة من الزمن لم يدر بها أحد سوى الجيران فيما بعد على أثر الرائحة ، أو ما شابه ذلك وهكذا صار يوم الأم للتكفير عن عقوقها ، وضياع حقوقها طوال العام ، انتهى.
الشاهد :
قال الله تعالى : { وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَى تَنفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ } ، تذكر أنه ليس لك سوى عيدين الفطر والأضحى.

Mother’s Day
Some people celebrate the so called “Mother’s Day” on March 21 of each year by offering gifts, well-wishing, flowers and candles to mothers. Messages are frequently dispatched and phone calls and visits are frequently made especially for this occasion.
Some origins of this day are said to be:
A
Christian religious motive related to
Jesus, peace of Allah be upon him, who had a mother but no father.
A
pedagogical social reason related to
the western world where a lot of children do not know their fathers, or were
left and neglected with their mothers, or their relationship with their fathers
is like strangers. So, as a result of feel of guilt towards mothers due to the
western world’s attitude against them, this Mother’s Day was dedicated to honor
mothers.
An old
mother died in her home and nobody
knew about her, but after some time her neighbors discovered her death due to a
bad smell coming from her home. So Mother’s Day was celebrated to atone for
ungratefulness for mothers and loss of their rights all the year.
The
point is 
Allah told us to make reminders to ourselves because reminders are beneficial to the faithful. And remember that you have only two eids; Al Fitr and Al Adha.
